«Вчера по пять были очень большие. А сегодня по три, но маленькие». Теперь представьте переживания героя знаменитой миниатюры Михаила Жванецкого про раков, если бы «большие» и «маленькие» стоили одинаково. Наш случай! Новый Nissan Qashqai и обновленный Kia Sportage компактнее, чем MazdaCX-5 и Toyota RAV4 — разница в длине составляет от 10 до 19 см. А «маленькая» Skoda Yeti и вовсе короче самых больших на четыре дециметра. Но начальные цены на полноприводные версии всех пяти кроссоверов с бензиновыми двигателями мощностью около 150 л.с. практически одинаковы. Разве что те, что поменьше, будут оснащены побогаче. Однако ключевой вопрос тот же, что и в случае с раками. Какие лучше: те, что сегодня, или те, что вчера?

Чем больше автомобиль, тем просторнее? Да, но. С одной стороны, Toyota в этом квинтете вне конкуренции: сзади сидишь как в бизнес-классе. Можно и подремать, по-самолетному откинув спинку дивана назад, можно закинуть ногу на ногу. Остальная четверка теснее. Но благодаря вертикальной посадке самая компактная Skoda по прос­тору для пассажиров ничуть не хуже, чем Mazda, Nissan и Kia, — у человека ростом 176 см за таким же водителем перед коленями запас более десяти сантиметров!

Причем если в СХ-5 и Yeti сидеть удобно, то Qashqai и Sportage как сговорились — предлагают низкую посадку кузнечиком, с задранными коленями.

А багажники? Мы измерили их объемы с помощью «тарированных» шариков, и. Вот здесь уже связь с длиной кузова прямая: Skoda вмещает лишь 343«шариковых» литра и может сравниться с Ниссаном (404 л) и Kia (413 л), только если сдвинуть вперед или вовсе демонтировать три задних раздельных кресла. К слову, лишь у Yeti есть такая возможность, равно как и опционное складное переднее сиденье.

Но даже ущемив до предела свободу пассажиров и получив под шторкой заветные 447 литров, в Шкоду все равно не загрузишь столько скарба, сколько п­озволяют Mazda (540 л) или Toyota (537л). Причем у RAV4 есть опционный электропривод пятой двери, а погрузочная высота существенно меньше. С весны этого года российские «рафики» комплектуются докаткой: пол багажника опустился, нет больше горба полноразмерной запаски.

Что еще общего у Тойоты с ее рубленым интерьером, обилием жесткого пластика и монохромным дисплейчиком климат-контроля — с красоткой Маздой, которая нежно обволакивает податливой отделкой и соблазняет глянцевым декором? Отменные кресла, шикарные рули и в целом прекрасная эргономика! Даже офисно-правильная Skoda не дотягивает до «японцев» — любителям низкой посадки приливы чешской спортивной баранки перекрывают часть приборных шкал.
