KIA Seltos S 2024
2024 Seltos earns its place in Kia’s lineup, which is full of other vehicles with similar values. The Seltos is a bit of an in-betweener model, slotting in between the smaller Soul and the larger Sportage, but its not-quite-subcompact size makes room for more cargo than rivals such as the Hyundai Kona and the Nissan Kicks. A styling refresh for 2024 makes the Seltos even more attractive than before and, although we don’t have all the details yet, we can see that its interior will be updated with better infotainment technology too. Kia will release more information closer to the 2024 model’s on-sale date, which will probably be sometime in 2023. The Seltos is expected to receive a refresh for its exterior and interior styling for 2024. A restyled grille and updated lighting elements elevate the SUV’s exterior along with new wheel designs and a rear light bar that connects the taillamps. The cabin receives an updated infotainment panel with two large screens and the current model’s more traditional shift lever appears to have been replaced with a rotary controller. We haven’t heard anything yet about the Seltos’s powertrains, but we’ll update this story when we find out more information. Changes start on the outside where the Seltos gets reworked headlights with new LED daytime running lights and discreetly updated vertical fog lights. Kia also changed the look of the front skid plate while the mesh grille seems a bit bigger now after moving the silver trim piece from the center to the bottom.
At the back, a light bar has been added to give the illusion of a wider vehicle while the taillights have a sharper configuration. The red reflectors have been repositioned into the plastic cladding of the bumper and there are (thankfully!) no fake exhaust tips. 2024 Kia Seltos is a refreshed SUV featuring a new front end and a new light bar at the back. The South Korean automaker, released images of the updated Seltos for the Korean market.. A digital gauge cluster on the left sits in the same unit as the infotainment screen on the right, and we spotted what looks like a head-up display, too. The brown leather shown here may join the list of upholstery colors, and ambient lighting could be a new option as well. The materials used throughout the cabin are well chosen and refined enough to seem right at home in the showroom next to the brand’s excellent Telluride SUV. Interior ambient lighting is standard on the upscale SX model and can be set to pulse along with the music like the system Kia offers in the smaller Soul SUV. During our test drive of the pre-facelift model, the cargo area easily swallowed our suitcases, backpacks, and photo bag; in our testing, we fit eight carry-on suitcases in the cargo hold and 20 with the rear seats folded. We expect the Seltos’s cargo carrying capability to be unchanged for the 2024 model year.Stepping inside the cabin, the 2024 Seltos comes with a thoroughly modified dashboard to accommodate the pair of 10.25-inch screens sitting side by side. The chunky gear lever is now a thing of the past as it has been replaced by a rotary switch, which is still flanked by several buttons as before. Kia also tweaked the HVAC controls, but honestly, we’re glad they’re still there and have not been swallowed by the infotainment.
In typical Hyundai/Kia/Genesis fashion, the reveal today is only about the visual changes. Full technical specifications will be disclosed next month when the 2024 Seltos will be exhibited at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea. As before, the model won’t come to Europe where Kia has the similarly sized XCeed slotting above the smaller Stonic. The cosmetic changes to the subcompact SUV sharing the platform with Hyundai Kona, look eye-catching. Here, the exterior sports a two-tone shade of light blue body and a black roof, along with reshaped DRLs and a slightly larger grille. The rear fascia sports an attractive light bar across the width of the car, along with updated taillights. The interior changes include a new set of display screens similar to other newer Kia models.
This arrangement is similar to the offerings of other modern Kia models and we expect to see Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an on-board wi-fi hotspot. Kia’s warranty is the best in the industry, and the company continues to offer the 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain coverage on its models. The only other rivals that can match it are SUVs from sister company Hyundai. Currently, the Seltos offers either a base naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four with 146 hp or an optional turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four with 175 horsepower. In our testing, the turbo Seltos achieved 30 mpg on our 75-mph highway fuel economy test. We aren’t sure if the 2024 model will see any powertrain changes, but Kia should release more information within the next few months. The digital gauge cluster on the left is in the same housing which has the infotainment screen on the right, and also a heads-up display can be spotted too. The upholstery colors show brown leather and ambient lighting as a new option as well. A rotary-style shifter replaces the traditional shift.
